This is our fourth year to have VBS here at HLPC. Prior to that, we didn’t have a facility to host it in. Now we do and it’s off to another good start. By the time you read this, day three will be in the books! I’m so thankful and encouraged by the work of our church body this week as we’ve been ministering to around 70 children. The skits, crafts, snacks, games, and Bible lessons have been well received. Please continue to pray for this week of ministry. Pray that we faithfully share the gospel and that we love the children who God has providentially sent to us for ministry.
Why am I encouraged? Let me list some ways. I’m encouraged that…
- A wide variety of people from our congregation are helping- from youth to “seasoned citizens”.
- A wide variety of gifts are being used- from leading, administrating, acting, singing, teaching, creativity, and just plain doing whatever needs to be done.
- We have the opportunity to love on so many children and point them to the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- We have the opportunity to build bridges with families outside of our church through VBS.
- We have an opportunity to experience ministry as the body, i.e. as a team, as so many of us work together.
I want to encourage all of you to be thinking and planning ahead for next year. I’m praying that we’ll be overwhelmed with people who step up and want to be involved in this great week of ministry. Even if you can only spare a day or two, please carve out time to assist your church in a week of ministry to precious children. You’ll be encouraged too!
