Dear HLPC family,
I’m grateful to God for how He has blessed us so far in this Missions Week 2024. It was encouraging to hear from some of our newest missionaries serving in El Salvador, Clay and Hannah Jones. We were all made aware during School of Discipleship how we can be praying for their transition to a new place and a new culture. Also, we praise God for the growing and effective ministry of Trail Life, along with the work at Strong Tower Fellowship. Lastly, we received a very thoughtful challenge from RUF Campus Minister at Mercer, Marlin Harris, to move out into others’ lives because God is at work.
Tonight, we will enjoy a chili supper together and then will once again use Zoom. We will meet Matt and Emma Hegler who are raising support to do ministry in Japan—a place that desperately needs the light of the gospel. Then Larry Wood, of Perry Volunteer Outreach, will share about their work in our community.
We’ll come back this Sunday and hear from Ben and Shanna Wright who are serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Marshall Brown, who with his wife, Koko, have served since 1989 in the Czech Republic, will be preaching for us that morning.
We hope that Missions Week helps us be outward focused when it’s so easy to focus strictly on ourselves and our own little world around us. As a congregation we need to both reach and equip. We need to reach out with the gospel to a lost world and equip God’s people to be faithful disciples at every age and stage of life. May He work that in and through us for His glory.
Your Pastor,
Paul
