Now You are the Body of Christ…

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. I Cor. 12:27

This verse comes in a section of I Corinthians wherein the Apostle Paul exhorts Christians to recognize that they are part of a body- the body of Christ. They are connected to Him and thus to each another. Just as we as individuals are hampered when one part of our own bodies is not functioning properly, so the body of Christ, the Church, is hampered when all of us are not healthy and functioning. By that we mean that we are growing in God’s grace are using our gifts for ministry.

Vacation Bible School week is a great opportunity I have as a Pastor to see the body of Christ at HLPC action. It is a great joy to see so many of our folk serving children the way they have this week. From the youth to “seasoned citizens”, I’ve seen the body at work. I see them in variety of roles such as leading groups, teaching, serving snacks, leading music, helping with crafts, and providing childcare so that Moms can serve other children. I’ve had a front row seat to watch the youth help with recreation and have been really encouraged by their efforts.

I’m thankful for this week of ministry. We are having the opportunity to point children to Jesus and to consider our place in His kingdom. We are seeing a number of kids come who are outside of our church family and who don’t currently have a church home. We are enthusiastic about the possibilities for ministry to them and their families. Please pray for those who are serving children and for the children themselves. Pray that we see God work mightily in the hearts of children, that many put their trust in Christ, and that He is brought glory in all that we do.

One last thing, if you’re able come one morning for the opening assembly at 9AM! You’ll be favorably impressed with the “HLPC Players” in the opening skit for each morning!
