Pastor’s Update

Dear HLPC family,

Last night the officers of HLPC, the Elders and the Deacons, met via Zoom.  I wanted to share two highlights of that meeting:

  • The Lord has sustained our church financially during the pandemic and we give HIM the praise for that.  In fact, in looking at where we are financially at the end of 2020 it was determined that we are able to pay an additional $74,000 toward the remaining $496,000 church mortgage that will greatly speed us toward paying it off.  We initially borrowed $1.4 million on our $2.4 million facility.  Lord willing, we may be able to be completely debt-free on our building within 3.5 years.  Please join us in thanking God for His provision!
  • The leadership also discussed the current situation we are in as it relates to COVID and its spread.  After hearing further updates on where we are in our community, we decided to continue our in-person worship on Sundays while encouraging those over 65 and those with underlying health conditions to utilize the livestream option.  We will meet again as leadership at the end of January to evaluate where things are and discuss when we will return to having School of Discipleship.  Please continue to engage in safe practices if you are with us on Sundays at 10:30AM.

I hope you’ll make a special effort to join with us online via Facebook Live at 7PM tonight.  I want to look with you at Philippians 4:4-9 and what it has to say to us in these days of stress and worry on so many fronts.

Lastly, Connie and I are at the end of our quarantine.  God was very gracious to us in that we did not experience any severe symptoms with COVID.  By God’s grace, I will return to the pulpit this Sunday and look forward to going back to the book of Hebrews!

May God give us grace to know that indeed Jesus gives us an easy yoke and a light burden!

Your Pastor,

Paul
