June 21-24 the PCA General Assembly met in Mobile, Alabama. Randy Saye and I were privileged to attend. This is the annual denominational gathering at which time reports are given on the ministries of the PCA and actions are taken that have impact on the life and direction of the PCA. Being a part of a denomination can be a very good thing. It provides connectionalism for broader ministry, theological integrity, and accountability for member churches. I believe one of my seminary professors, Dr. Knox Chamblin, put it well when he said that denominations should provide lines of distinction rather than walls of separation between Bible believing Christians.
In order to keep us all informed I’m providing a link to the summary of the actions taken at General Assembly prepared by the Stated Clerk of the PCA, Dr. Roy Taylor. The Stated Clerk is the highest elected office in the PCA and serves a largely administrative and advisory function. I’m rather happy with the current occupant of that office as he is my uncle!
You can find Dr. Taylor’s summary report HERE. I hope you’ll take the time to read this. If you have questions or want to discuss anything that took place, Randy and I would be happy to have that conversation.
