Why VBS?

VBS is right around the corner!

We had a great time Monday night at Volunteer Training. One of the things I like to ask every year is, “Why VBS?” We had some good discussion. Personally, I believe if you can’t come up with a good answer for “Why” then you probably shouldn’t be doing it. Below are some poor reasons and some good reasons to have VBS at HLPC.

Poor Reasons to Have VBS at HLPC:

  • It’s tradition!
  • We’ve always done it.
  • I need a break from my own children.
  • People need a way to get rid of empty plastic bottles and toilet paper tubes.
  • Moms need something to do.
  • Pastor Paul & Randy aren’t busy enough as it is.

Good Reasons to Have VBS at HLPC:

  • It’s one way to fulfill our covenant vows to the children of HLPC.
  • It’s an outreach to our friends and neighbors – churched & unchurched alike.
  • We get to share/reinforce the gospel from a different angle – in a new context.
  • It’s a way for us to be family and work together on a common mission.
  • Serving is a means of grace meant to strengthen my faith.

If you’d like to volunteer, let me know!

And don’t forget to REGISTER your children!

It’s gonna be a good week!
