Youth Ministry Update

Youth Ministry Update

Dear HLPC family,

Some thoughts on youth and youth ministry this Wednesday:

  • Please keep praying for our youth and youth leaders who are at the Reformed Youth Movement (RYM) Conference in Panama City Beach, FL.   HLPC is well represented not only by the youth but by Jessica Bermudez who is serving as the conference nurse!  Pray not only for safety but for much growth in grace as our youth hear great teaching and enjoy good fellowship.  They are due to return home this Saturday.
  • As you know, Shane Hall is stepping back from his youth leadership position here at HLPC due to an increasing stress load which includes pursuing a doctorate in education.  This transition will happen at the end of July.  We’re glad he, Christina, and Grayson will still be a part of our church family.  Stay tuned for more info on a “Shane sendoff.”
  • Along those lines, you need to know that we are looking to provide leadership staff for our flourishing youth ministry.  Please pray for those who have been tasked to consider options for the future.  We are so thankful for our youth and their ministry among us!  We look forward to seeing them continue to grow in their faith and are encouraged that we have parents and others who will step up to oversee things in the interim.

Your Pastor,

Paul Bankson

Paul was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and graduated from Auburn University in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. It was at Auburn that he met his wife, Connie. They were married in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and moved to Jackson, MS where he attended Reformed Theological Seminary graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1991. Upon graduation, Paul served as a Campus Minister with RUF, the campus ministry of the PCA, at Tennessee-Martin where the Banksons lived for 5 years. They moved to Macon, GA in 1996 to work with RUF at Mercer University and then Paul joined the pastoral staff at First Presbyterian Church of Macon as an Assistant Pastor in 1999. In 2004, Paul and his family moved to Warner Robins where he served as a church planter and then organizing Pastor of Houston Lake Presbyterian Church. In December 2014 Paul completed a Doctor of Ministry degree through Reformed Theological Seminary of Orlando. Paul and Connie have three sons, Andrew (23), Stephen (20), and Matthew (15). Paul enjoys grilling, camping with his family, and Auburn sports (War Eagle!).
