Dear HLPC family,
I can’t believe we have hit the season of back to school. It seems to come earlier and earlier every year. I remember when I was in high school griping that we were starting back a few days before Labor Day! Times have changed.
This Saturday we will be having our churchwide cookout at Kingsland Farm which is part of Todd and Monica Kinnebrew’s property. They have recently enclosed and air conditioned their pavilion so it will be a great place for our cookout. There are ample spaces for kids to run outdoors and plenty of room for folks to stay cool. I hope you’ll sign up using the link provided here in News and Notes so that we will have adequate food and see the info below for what you can bring based on your last name.
This Lord’s Day morning we return to School of Discipleship with coffee and donuts at 9:15 and classes for all ages at 9:20. It’s move up Sunday for our kids. Our Adult Class will be studying some of the historic creeds of the Church, including the Nicene Creed which celebrates it’s 1700th year in 2025. Should be a fascinating class!
Wednesday, August 20th, we will kick off our Wednesday night MidWeek here at HLPC. This fall we are offering something for kids. We are excited to use the new children’s curriculum published by Ligonier Ministries called “Growing In God’s Word.” This takes our kids through an overview of the Bible and will be led by Cathy Alvord. This means we’ll have groups on Wednesday nights for all ages!
Our men’s group is going to be studying together the book Everyone’s a Theologian. This book is by R.C. Sproul and is a great introduction to systematic theology. I think it will generate fun discussions! The Women’s study topic is TBA. More info on MidWeek is forthcoming.
Men, you can purchase your copy of Everyone’s a Theologian for $12 by using this link:
