Dear HLPC family,
It’s time for my annual “Praise God for VBS” Pastor’s Pen! Once again, we have a great group of kids and a fantastic group of volunteers. Yes, it’s a tiring week for all involved, but we get the chance to love and serve children and their families this week and point them to the Savior. VBS week, as I say each year, gives all of us a front row seat to see the body of Christ at work. A wide range of people and ages are serving in a wide range of ways from teaching lessons, leading singing, doing crafts, serving snacks, Scripture memory, doing recreation, providing security, and providing administrative help. Not to mention the cleanup that occurs each day as well. Please continue to pray for a great week.
Next week Todd Kinnebrew, Chuck Ezell, and I will be in Richmond, Virginia to attend the 51st PCA General Assembly. This is the annual denominational gathering of what we call the highest “court” of our church. We model this after the gathering the early church had in Acts 15. Please pray for a great week and for God to lead and guide the PCA to greater health and faithfulness. Connie and I will leave almost immediately after worship to catch a flight to Richmond as I have a meeting to attend at 10AM on Monday. I’m also serving again as one of the recording clerks charged with taking the minutes of the meeting. If you care to, you can follow the proceedings online by going to pcaga.org.
My highlight of the week is learning that instead of “Pastor Paul,” one of our HLPC kids calls me “Master Paul” as that’s easier for him to say. I doubt seriously it will catch on!
Your Pastor,
Paul
