Dear HLPC family,
I’ve been hearing a number of folks remark, “We have been having so many visitors lately!” That’s encouraging for all of us! We want new people not only to come worship with us but also to return and AND to become a part of our church family. What should we do?
· Be on the lookout for new faces and introduce yourself- even if someone responds, “I’ve been coming here for weeks!” simply smile and say, “Well, I’m glad to finally meet you!”
· Find connections you can help new people make- if you meet someone who has a background or an interest that fits with others in our church, help introduce them to one another. Maybe you find out they are military- you can introduce them to one of our active duty or retired military members.
· Invite new faces to a small group or upcoming church event- we have a number of small groups, WIC events, and men’s breakfasts that would provide avenues of relationships. Always keep in mind churchwide fellowships that are on the horizon.
· Practice hospitality- invite new folks to have a meal together even if you decide to go out to a restaurant together. Shared meals are great times to build and strengthen relationships.
Please pray that the Lord gives us grace and wisdom to be a warm and welcoming church at which we are faithful to proclaim Jesus Christ, “…warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” (Colossians 1:28 ESV).
Your Pastor,
Paul
