HLPC Family,
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of teaching a High School Biblical Worldview class at Westfield School. It’s something I look forward to every week. I would like to share one definition of a Biblical worldview that has deeply resonated with me: “A Biblical worldview is God’s explanation of His world through His Word for His image bearers. Therefore, we must use God’s Word to interpret His world and align ourselves with His explanation for everything.”
In other words, as God’s people, we are called to see the world through the lens of Scripture. It is through the Word of God that we come to understand who He is, what He is like, how He relates to us, what is right and wrong, and how we find clear explanations for everything in life and reality.
Many of us find ourselves in a season of life marked by confusion, burdens, and anxiety about the future—whether it’s concern for our nation as it drifts away from biblical principles, or unease about the personal challenges and habitual sins we face each day. We may feel overwhelmed by the demands of work and family, or perhaps some of us feel lost amidst the chaos of the world. As Bill Douglas reminded us in last week’s sermon on Jesus calming the storm from Mark 4:35-41, “Trials in life expose our hearts.” To truly understand our circumstances, we must first understand our view of God and ourselves.
This Sunday, as we continue our study in the book of James, focusing on chapter 1:9-18, I hope we’ll recognize God’s sovereign hand in our lives. As we explore the significance of wisdom, my prayer is that biblical wisdom will shape our worldview, helping us see how God is at work in our passions, our prosperity, and our pain—in every aspect of our lives. I invite you to join us this Lord’s Day as we learn from God’s Word and what He has to say about our trials in life.
In the grip of God’s grace,
