Be Anxious For Nothing

Dear HLPC family,

This Saturday, Lord willing, I leave for Villahermosa, Mexico to teach a class to pastors in the National Presbyterian Church on behalf of Seminario Reformado Latinoamericano (SRL) entitled “The History of the Reformation.” For those who don’t know, SRL provides seminary education for indigenous pastors in Latin America. Before my class starts on Monday, I’ll have the privilege of preaching in two churches on Sunday, one in the morning and one in the evening, as well as speak to a church on Wednesday evening. It looks to be a full week. Please pray for safe travels, health while I’m there, and effective teaching. I would also appreciate your prayers for my remaining preparations. My return flight is Saturday, September 6th. I am very grateful for our church’s involvement in SRL and for allowing me the privilege to go and teach.

We also should pray for Zach Hood, the HLPC youth, and other leaders who will be going on a rafting trip this weekend on the Ocoee River. On Sunday, they’ll be worshipping at Northshore Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Chattanooga. Let’s pray for safety, great fellowship, and great worship! Here at HLPC, Marlin Harris, RUF Campus Minister at Mercer University will fill the pulpit.

Lastly, you need to know that Murray, the 95-pound labrador retriever with paw injuries, is doing much better. Last Sunday I shared how apprehensive I would be to go to Mexico and leave Connie to deal with him by herself (he’s a big boy and is not crazy about bandages being put on his foot). We are encouraged by how the Lord has answered prayers. He tells us “Be anxious for nothing!”

Your Pastor,

Paul
