Dear HLPC family,
It’s good to be back after time away for vacation with family. We always miss worship here at HLPC. The Lord has blessed us with gifted men like Ruling Elder Michael Collins and our assistant Pastor, Zach Hood, who very capably fill the HLPC pulpit.
This coming Lord’s Day, Lord willing, I will begin a series on 2 Thessalonians. I intend to return to the book of Exodus but that will wait until the fall. This brief epistle of Paul to the church at Thessalonica will give us more insight into the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As you are hopefully aware, HLPC is now supporting two church planters in the United Kingdom as part of the UK Partnership- an alliance of reformed churches in the USA and church planting efforts in the UK where there is great need for the gospel. We support Dan Terry in Birmingham and Will Allan in Manchester. Both men desire a strong relationship with us and we likewise with them and their families. A recent email from Dan shares about his encouraging ministry and outreach as well as this health concern. Please pray for him. Here is what he wrote:
“About a month ago, I was in hospital for 3 days with a heart issue. Around 2am on 11th June, my heart was going haywire, it wasn’t painful but I was in extreme discomfort. I got up to go to the toilet and went unconscious for a little bit before my wife woke me up. I didn’t even remember falling. My Apple Watch recorded my heartbeat and detected an irregular rhythm. We went to the hospital soon after and I almost passed out a couple more times. I was in for 3 days as the doctors did various checks. Praise God, it wasn’t a heart attack and I don’t have any defects on my heart but with cardiovascular disease running in the family, it is a bit concerning. The doctors haven’t diagnosed the problem yet, as I think they need more data. My heart went back to regular rhythm pretty soon after getting into the hospital!”
Your Pastor,
Paul
